🐻🚁 SMOKEY BEAR TAKES FLIGHT FOR 82ND BIRTHDAY 🎂🔥
Smokey Bear will celebrate his 82nd birthday this Sunday with a New Jersey Forest Fire Service helicopter flight from Cape May to Asbury Park. Fans along the coast can also collect commemorative beach badges at select state parks and locations.

📍 NEW JERSEY — Get ready to look up this Sunday, Aug. 9, as Smokey Bear takes to the skies above the Jersey Shore to celebrate his 82nd birthday! 🐻🎉
The iconic wildfire-prevention mascot will fly aboard a New Jersey Forest Fire Service helicopter, traveling low along the coast from Cape May to Asbury Park.
🚁 Smokey Bear’s scheduled flight: • 🌲 Atsion Lake, Wharton State Forest: Approximately 11:00 a.m. • 🌲 Lake Nummy, Belleplain State Forest: Approximately 11:45 a.m. • 🌊 Cape May: Approximately 1:00 p.m. — flight begins north along the coast • 🏖️ Asbury Park: Approximately 3:30 p.m. — flight concludes
✈️ A banner plane displaying a “Happy Birthday, Smokey Bear” message will lead the aerial celebration.
🏖️ Special commemorative Smokey Bear beach badges will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis at:

🔥🐻 The celebration highlights Smokey Bear’s decades-long mission of educating the public about wildfire prevention and his famous message:
“Only you can prevent wildfires.”
The birthday flight is being made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
🌧️ Weather Note: If inclement weather impacts Sunday’s flight, the celebration will be rescheduled for Sunday, Aug. 16.
