A 27-year-old Washington Borough man accused of kidnapping a 6-year-old girl from her home is now facing additional charges following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction.
Authorities identified the suspect as Lester Noe Perez-Amador, 27, of Washington Borough.
According to officials, police received a report shortly before 3:00 a.m. Saturday regarding a missing 6-year-old girl in Washington. Investigators determined that the child had allegedly been taken from her residence.
Approximately an hour later, the girl was located returning to her home alone. She was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Police said a multi-agency investigation lasting approximately 36 hours led investigators to identify Perez-Amador as the person allegedly responsible. Authorities said he was taken into custody within the first 24 hours of the investigation.
Officials also stated that Perez-Amador was known to the child, although additional details regarding their relationship were not released.
Perez-Amador was initially charged with first-degree home invasion burglary and first-degree kidnapping.
Prosecutors later announced additional charges, including two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Washington Township Police Chief Christopher Jones credited cooperation among multiple agencies for helping bring the investigation to a conclusion and the suspect into custody.
If convicted of a kidnapping or sexual assault charge, Perez-Amador could face a potential sentence of up to life in prison, depending on the specific conviction and applicable sentencing laws.
Perez-Amador remains held at the Warren County Correctional Center pending further court proceedings.
