Millburn police arrested 40-year-old Abijahn Johnson of Newark during a traffic stop after finding a sword and two daggers in his car. Johnson, who had an active warrant, now faces several weapons charges and was taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
MILLBURN, NJ ā A 40-year-old Newark man was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop after police discovered he had an active warrant out of Montclair and allegedly found multiple weapons inside his vehicle.
š According to the Millburn Police Department, an officer stopped a Honda Accord on Fineran Way after observing a motor vehicle violation.
A records check identified the driver as Abijahn Johnson, 40, of Newark, and revealed an active Montclair warrant related to assault and unlawful possession of a knife, police said.
During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly recovered a large katana-style sword and two black metal daggers. āļø
Johnson was charged on the outstanding warrant and additionally faces charges for possession of dangerous knives and possession of weapons by a certain person prohibited from possessing weapons.
Police said Johnson has prior felony convictions and was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
