An unauthorized pool party at the New Milford Swim Club was shut down by police after reports of fights and other disorderly conduct, according to borough officials.
Mayor Michael Putrino said the event, advertised as the “Lavish Effect Pool Party,” took place on August 30 without authorization from the Borough of New Milford. Officials and the New Milford Police Department were reportedly not notified that the event was being held.

According to the mayor, police responded after reports of physical altercations and other disorderly, illegal and inappropriate conduct involving attendees.
Officials have not released information regarding any potential arrests, injuries or specific offenses stemming from the incident.
🏊 BOROUGH REVIEWING SWIM CLUB OPERATIONS
The New Milford Swim Club is privately operated but has leased borough-owned property since 1959.
Mayor Putrino said the club has faced financial difficulties in recent years, prompting the borough to make changes to its lease and provide other assistance intended to reduce the club’s operating expenses.
However, the borough has also expressed increasing concern over what officials described as repeated violations of the club’s lease agreement.
Putrino called the decision to host an unauthorized event on borough property “extremely poor, completely unacceptable, and very disappointing.”

The borough’s governing body, attorney, risk manager and police department are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the pool party and will determine what action, if any, should be taken.
