The Bloomfield Animal Shelter is seeking information after a dog was found tied to a fence and a cat was left outside its gates last week. Officials remind the public that abandoning animals is illegal and dangerous for the pets.
The Bloomfield Animal Shelter is seeking the public’s help after two pets were reportedly abandoned in separate incidents in Bloomfield last week.
🐶 DOG FOUND TIED TO FENCE
On Tuesday, September 8, rescuers found a female dog tied to a fence near the Garden State Parkway entrance on Summit Avenue. According to the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, the dog had no collar, identification tags, or microchip.
🐱 CAT LEFT OUTSIDE SHELTER
A second incident occurred early Saturday morning, September 12. The shelter said a female cat was left outside its gates around 6:08 a.m.
Security footage reportedly shows a woman arriving on an electric scooter, placing the cat in crates near the shelter entrance, waving goodbye and leaving the area.
The shelter warned that leaving animals outside the facility is dangerous and against the law, and can leave staff without important information about the animal, including its name, age, medical history and individual needs.
