🌪️ Tornado Risk Upgraded Across Parts of New Jersey
Forecasters have upgraded the tornado risk for parts of New Jersey as severe thunderstorms move through the area. While isolated tornadoes and damaging winds are possible, officials warned that torrential rain and localized flooding remain the primary threats this evening.
NEW JERSEY — The severe weather threat is increasing across parts of New Jersey today, with the tornado risk now upgraded.
🌪️ A 5% tornado probability is highlighted across the area shaded brown, while a 2% probability extends into the surrounding green-shaded region. While an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, flooding remains the more significant concern with today’s storms.
⛈️ Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop, bringing the potential for damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, torrential rainfall and localized flooding.
⚠️ Residents should remain weather-aware throughout the afternoon and evening, especially in areas prone to poor drainage or flash flooding. Never drive through a flooded roadway.
