🚨 TENNESSEE CHILD RAPE SUSPECT ARRESTED IN UNION COUNTY AFTER LICENSE PLATE CAMERA ALERT 🚨
Police arrested Toyin Adekale Patterson in Fanwood after license plate cameras flagged his vehicle in Union County. Patterson was wanted in Tennessee for the rape of a child and was captured through the coordination of several local law enforcement agencies.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — A man wanted in Tennessee on a charge of rape of a child was arrested in Union County after law enforcement used license plate-reading technology to track his vehicle, authorities said.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee, Toyin Adekale Patterson was wanted in Jefferson County in connection with the charge.
Authorities said information identifying Patterson as wanted, along with details about his vehicle, was entered into the Flock Safety license plate camera system Friday afternoon.
The suspect’s vehicle was later detected by a Flock camera in Scotch Plains. That information was shared with neighboring law enforcement agencies, authorities said.
🚔 Fanwood police subsequently spotted the vehicle traveling through Fanwood. Officers received an alert from the camera system, conducted a traffic stop and took Patterson into custody.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office credited the Scotch Plains Police Department and Fanwood Police Department for their assistance in locating and arresting Patterson.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the allegations underlying the Tennessee charge.
⚖️ Patterson is accused of a crime and remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in court.
