📍 BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Police are warning residents about allowing unknown individuals into their homes after a stranger was reportedly found hiding inside a Berkeley Heights residence over the weekend.

According to the Berkeley Heights Police Department, officers were called to a home at approximately 9:20 p.m. Saturday after a resident reported allowing an unknown man inside to use the bathroom.

Once inside the residence, police said the man entered the bathroom, turned off the lights and attempted to hide from both the homeowners and responding officers.

🚔 Officers located the man and took appropriate action to safely resolve the situation, according to police.

Authorities did not identify the individual and did not release additional information regarding what happened after officers located him.

⚠️ Following the incident, Berkeley Heights police reminded residents to exercise caution when approached by people they do not know.

Police specifically advised residents not to allow unknown individuals into their homes, even when someone claims they need assistance.
