š SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ ā A South Plainfield woman escaped safely after a fire tore through a ranch-style home early Tuesday morning, leaving the residence with extensive damage.
The fire was reported shortly before 2:00 a.m. Tuesday on Crown Avenue, where firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming from the home. Officials believe the fire originated in the property's attached two-car garage.
š©āš According to reports from the scene, the woman who lived at the residence was able to escape with assistance from firefighters. Nearby residents were also evacuated as a precaution while crews worked to bring the fire under control.
Video from the scene showed flames reaching high into the air as firefighters battled the blaze overnight. Crews remained at the property for several hours, returning Tuesday morning to address lingering hot spots and guard against a possible rekindle.
š§ Firefighters reportedly faced additional challenges during overhaul operations due to a significant amount of material inside the home. Heavy equipment was brought in to assist with removing debris, including what appeared to be a burned vehicle from the garage area, as crews continued checking for hidden hot spots.
