Superintendent Bernard F. Bragen Jr. said the messages may attempt to persuade recipients to send money, gift cards, personal information, or funds for classroom supplies.
š« District officials say legitimate staff members will not send unsolicited emails asking families for personal financial information or requesting money, gift cards, or other funds through these types of messages.
Families who receive an email claiming to be from a school employee but appears suspicious are being urged to:
š« Do not respond to the message š Do not click on links or attachments š Do not provide personal or financial information š© Report the suspicious email to the child's school or the superintendent's office
The district is asking families to remain vigilant as officials work to address the fraudulent messages and prevent members of the school community from becoming victims.
