🚨 SEVERAL PEOPLE CHARGED AFTER ALTERCATION DURING ATLANTIC CITY DEMONSTRATION

📍 ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Several people face criminal charges following an altercation that broke out during a demonstration in Atlantic City on Saturday, according to the Atlantic City Police Department.

The demonstration began at approximately 11 a.m. in the 2700 block of Atlantic Avenue and was initially peaceful. Police said an altercation later developed among several people in the crowd.

🚔 As officers responded to the incident from the city's Public Safety Building, police said they encountered several protesters who had moved into the roadway, along with another individual who was in an area being kept clear for access to the building.

According to police, the individuals were instructed to leave the street and access area but allegedly refused to comply. Those individuals were subsequently arrested.

Police also filed charges against people they said were involved in the original altercation.

🏥 One person sustained minor injuries and was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment.

🔹 Diana Chaparro, 50, of Hammonton — Simple assault 🔹 Devon Barber, 28, of Atlantic City — Simple assault 🔹 Jose Salazar, 18, of Princeton — Simple assault and illegal possession of a chemical device involving pepper spray 🔹 Cristian Moreno-Rodriguez, 31, of Atlantic City — Obstruction of justice 🔹 Anthony Diaz, 30, of Newark — Obstruction of justice 🔹 Keli Smith, 41, of Egg Harbor Township — Obstruction of justice and resisting arrest

The investigation and circumstances surrounding the demonstration remain subject to the criminal court process.

⚖️ All individuals charged are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
