🕯️ Secaucus Police Lieutenant Thomas Malanka Jr. Dies
The Secaucus Police Department is mourning the death of Lieutenant Thomas Malanka Jr., who passed away Monday morning. A twenty-four-year veteran of the force, Malanka also served for over a decade with the Hudson County Rapid Deployment Force.
SECAUCUS, NJ — August 24, 2026 — The Secaucus Police Department is mourning the loss of Lieutenant Thomas Malanka Jr., known as “TJ,” Badge #125, who passed away at approximately 1:50 a.m. Monday, August 24.
Lt. Malanka served the Secaucus Police Department with honor and distinction from 2002 through June 2026, holding several key assignments during his career, including Patrol Supervisor, Platoon Commander, and Extra Duty Coordinator.
He also served for more than a decade as a member of the Hudson County Rapid Deployment Force, contributing years of service to both the department and the wider community.
The department is asking the community to keep Lt. Malanka’s wife, children, mother, and father, retired Captain Thomas Malanka Sr., in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
