šØš PATERSON MAN ARRESTED IN NYC IN CONNECTION WITH CAR BURGLARY & AIRBAG THEFT SPREE
New York City police arrested a 27-year-old Paterson man for a series of April vehicle burglaries. Antony Arlequin-Salcedo faces dozens of charges for allegedly stealing two cars and stripping airbags from nearly 30 vehicles, many of which were Hondas.
PATERSON, NJ ā A 27-year-old Paterson man has been arrested in New York City in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries that targeted cars and airbags in Paterson earlier this year, according to the Paterson Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as Antony Arlequin-Salcedo, who is facing 23 counts of theft and 22 counts of burglary.
š APRIL BURGLARY SPREE
According to investigators, the arrest stems from an investigation into a series of vehicle burglaries reported throughout Paterson in April.
Police said numerous vehicles were entered, with airbags among the items stolen. At the time, reports indicated that nearly 30 vehicles were broken into, while two vehicles were reported stolen.
Many of the targeted vehicles were Honda models, with thieves allegedly removing airbags from inside the vehicles.
The burglaries were reported in areas including Crosby Avenue, Sherman Avenue and Totowa Avenue.
š ARREST IN NEW YORK CITY
Authorities said Arlequin-Salcedo was located and arrested in New York City as investigators continued working the case.
Similar vehicle burglaries were also reported in Teaneck during the same night, where approximately 13 vehicles were targeted. Paterson police have not indicated whether Arlequin-Salcedo is suspected of involvement in those incidents.
The charges are allegations, and Arlequin-Salcedo is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
