Nutley police are investigating a report of criminal mischief after an Eastwick College employee found a metal object wedged into their car’s wheel well. The sabotage caused the vehicle to lose power steering while the victim was driving home from work.
NUTLEY, NJ — August 27, 2026 — Nutley police are investigating a reported case of criminal mischief after an employee of Eastwick College allegedly discovered an object wedged near the vehicle’s front driver’s-side wheel after leaving work.
According to the Nutley Police Department, the employee reported the incident at police headquarters on August 17.
Police said the employee had left work and was driving home when, approximately five minutes into the trip, the vehicle suddenly lost power steering. The driver reportedly had difficulty pulling over but was eventually able to stop at a nearby gas station.
After stopping, the employee allegedly discovered a sawed-off metal object wedged between the rear portion of the front driver’s-side wheel and the vehicle’s body.
🚔 The incident was reported as criminal mischief, and Nutley Police said their Detective Bureau was notified and is investigating.
Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect or announced any arrests in connection with the incident.
