Newark police are seeking a woman who stole a laptop and tablet from an unlocked car on 18th Avenue on August 30. Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call the department’s anonymous tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Police Division is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a burglary of an auto reported on August 30, 2026.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., surveillance video captured a female suspect entering an unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of 18th Avenue at approximately 12:40 p.m.
👤 Police describe the suspect as a heavy-set Black female who was wearing:
👖 Dark-colored pants 👚 Gray tank top 👟 White and black sneakers 🧣 Red headscarf
Police say the suspect took an Apple laptop and iPad from the vehicle. 💻📱
🔎 Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the incident is urged to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
