๐จ NEWARK POLICE SEEK HELP IDENTIFYING CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFT SUSPECTS ๐จ

Newark police are searching for suspects who stole a catalytic converter from a Hyundai parked on Quitman Street on August 27. Surveillance footage shows the thieves fleeing in a black BMW 5 Series after cutting the part from the vehicle.
NEWARK, NJ โ The Newark Police Division is asking for the publicโs assistance in identifying suspects involved in the theft of a catalytic converter from a parked vehicle on August 27, 2026. ๐
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the victim parked his 2011 Hyundai at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Quitman Street between West Kinney Street and Montgomery Street.
When the victim returned around noon, he noticed a loud noise coming from his vehicle and discovered that the catalytic converter had been stolen. ๐ง๐
๐น Surveillance video captured the incident. Police say the suspects arrived in a black BMW 5 Series. A passenger exited the BMW and allegedly cut the catalytic converter from the Hyundai.
The suspects then fled southbound on Quitman Street, turning left onto Montgomery Street toward Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
