New Jersey State Police visited Trenton City Hall on Wednesday as part of an investigation into a former housing department employee. City officials referred the case to the state following an internal probe into allegations of misconduct from earlier this year.
TRENTON, NJ — Members of the New Jersey State Police were at Trenton City Hall Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation involving alleged misconduct by a former City employee, officials said.
The City of Trenton said the matter dates back to 2024, when allegations involving an employee in the Housing and Economic Development Department came to the Administration’s attention.
The City subsequently conducted an internal investigation. The employee separated from City employment in 2024, and the City referred the matter and its findings to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office for further investigation and any action deemed appropriate.
Mayor W. Reed Gusciora said the Administration has zero tolerance for misconduct or violations of the public trust and that the City will continue cooperating with law enforcement when credible allegations of wrongdoing are identified.
Because the investigation remains active, city officials said they will not comment on the substance of the allegations or provide additional details at this time.
The City also emphasized that the overwhelming majority of its employees serve Trenton residents with honesty, professionalism, and dedication.
