🚨🐾 MULTIPLE DOGS AND OTHER PETS FOUND DEAD INSIDE WOODBRIDGE HOME, POLICE SAY
Woodbridge police are preparing criminal charges against a homeowner after officers found numerous dead dogs, hamsters, and lizards inside a Douglas Street residence. Neighbors told authorities the pets likely starved after being left alone in unsanitary conditions.
📍 WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Woodbridge Police say criminal charges are pending against a homeowner after numerous animals were found dead inside a Douglas Street residence during a welfare check Wednesday night.
According to Woodbridge Chief Law Enforcement Officer Brian Murphy, officers responded to the home after being asked to conduct a welfare check. Upon entering, officers encountered a strong foul odor and extremely unsanitary conditions inside the residence.
Police say they discovered numerous dogs confined inside crates, along with hamsters, lizards and other pets. The animals were found deceased.
Neighbors told authorities they believed the animals had starved to death after the homeowner allegedly left the area and failed to provide care for the animals.
🚒 The Middlesex County Haz-Mat Unit, firefighters and the Office of Emergency Management responded to assist at the residence. Woodbridge Animal Control removed the deceased animals from the property.
Police say the homeowner was not at the residence when officers arrived and that criminal charges are pending. Authorities have not released the woman’s identity or specified the charges she may face.
