Montclair firefighters quickly extinguished a kitchen fire on Francis Place Monday evening, preventing the flames from spreading to the rest of the home. Montclair Police assisted a resident out of the building, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters made a quick interior attack Monday evening after a kitchen fire was reported at a home on Francis Place, preventing the flames from spreading throughout the residence.
The Montclair Fire Department said all companies were dispatched at approximately 5 p.m. following reports of a fire with a person possibly trapped inside.
Firefighters immediately entered the home with a handline and located the fire in the kitchen. Crews were able to knock down the flames before they extended into the walls or other areas of the floor.
According to the fire department, damage was limited to a small portion of the kitchen, while the remainder of the home was spared from significant fire damage.
š Officials credited the rapid response and aggressive interior firefighting operation with getting water on the fire before it could spread.
The Montclair Fire Department also thanked Montclair Police for assisting the resident out of the home and the Montclair Ambulance Unit for providing assistance at the scene.
No additional injuries or damage details were immediately reported.
