Monmouth County has welcomed its newest cannabis dispensary, with Pink Balloon Dispensary officially opening its doors Wednesday at 3536 Route 66 in Neptune Township.
The grand opening featured outdoor tents, giveaways and an ice cream truck. Local officials, including Neptune Township Mayor Kevin McMillan, Deputy Mayor Derel Stroud and state Sen. Vin Gopal, were expected to attend the opening.
Pink Balloon was co-founded by Dr. Mike Aquino, M.D., a Monmouth County physician and gastroenterologist based in Oakhurst, and Teri Festa, who brings experience from the hospitality industry.
The dispensary says its goal is to create a welcoming and educational environment for both experienced cannabis consumers and adults who may be new to cannabis.
The company's tagline, “goodbye, gravity,” represents what Pink Balloon describes as the lighter, more unburdened feeling many customers are seeking.
The business also says several members of its staff are on the autism spectrum. An August 19 pre-opening celebration benefited Autism New Jersey.
