šØš«šŖ MASKED MAN ARMED WITH HANDGUN AND MACHETE ARRESTED IN CLIFTON
Clifton police arrested a 47-year-old man on Thursday after he allegedly wore a ski mask and pointed a handgun at a person in a car. Officers found the suspect nearby carrying a machete, a firearm, and suspected cocaine.
š CLIFTON, NJ ā A 47-year-old Clifton man was arrested Thursday after police say he approached a person sitting inside a vehicle while wearing a black ski mask and pointing a handgun.
According to the Clifton Police Department, officers were called to the area of Knapp Avenue and Schoonaker Place after a 911 caller reported that a man dressed in black and wearing a ski mask approached their vehicle and knocked on the window.
The caller told police the man pointed a handgun at them before eventually leaving the area.
š Officers responded and located a suspect approximately one block away. Police identified the man as 47-year-old Eddy Calixto of Clifton.
Authorities say Calixto was still wearing the black ski mask and was allegedly carrying a machete in one hand and a .22-caliber Makarov handgun in the other.
Police also allegedly found Calixto in possession of a small amount of suspected cocaine.
āļø Calixto was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, drug possession and weapons-related offenses.
The charges are allegations, and Calixto is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
