šØ MAN WITH KNIFE BARRICADES HIMSELF INSIDE PINE HILL APARTMENT AFTER BURGLARIES
Police arrested an Oaklyn man Tuesday after he allegedly broke into two Pine Hill apartments and held a knife during a standoff. The suspect faces multiple charges, including home invasion and burglary, following the incident at the Chalet Garden Apartments.
PINE HILL, NJ ā A 24-year-old Oaklyn man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly breaking into two apartments at the Chalet Garden Apartments and barricading himself inside one of the homes while armed with a knife, according to Pine Hill Police.
š Officers were dispatched to the apartment complex at approximately 1:30 a.m. for a report of a burglary in progress.
Police said the suspect gained entry into an apartment through a kitchen window. The residents confronted the suspect, who fled before officers arrived.
While investigating the initial burglary, officers were dispatched to a second apartment at the complex for another reported burglary in progress.
When officers arrived, they determined that the residents and suspect were still inside. Police said the suspect was armed with a knife and refused commands to surrender before barricading himself inside the apartment. šŖšØ
Officers assisted the residents in safely exiting through a window while additional law enforcement resources responded to the scene.
š® ARRESTED: Vimere Kearney, 24, of Oaklyn
Kearney faces multiple charges, including first-degree home invasion, second-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree burglary, theft, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and obstruction.
Kearney was taken into custody following the standoff and was ultimately remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
