π¨ MAN STABBED MULTIPLE TIMES IN BROAD-DAYLIGHT RANDOM ATTACK AT UNION COUNTY PARK

Police arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a stranger multiple times at Wheeler Park on Wednesday afternoon. The victim is in stable condition, and the suspect faces several charges, including attempted murder.

A 40-year-old man is recovering after being stabbed multiple times in what authorities describe as a random attack at a Union County park Wednesday afternoon.
π At approximately 1:36 p.m., the Union County Police Department responded to Wheeler Park following a report of an aggravated assault.
According to Union County officials, Linden Police later located a man near Aviation Plaza on Route 1&9 and Stiles Street who indicated that he had stabbed another man inside Wheeler Park.
Officers located the 40-year-old victim suffering from multiple stab wounds near Stiles Street and Route 1&9.
π₯ The victim was conscious and alert when authorities arrived and was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he remains in stable condition.
π SUSPECT ARRESTED
Authorities identified the suspect as 27-year-old Mark Minotti.
Minotti was arrested and transported to the Union County Police Department, where he was interviewed and processed.
He was charged with:
π΄ First-degree attempted murder π΄ Second-degree aggravated assault π΄ Aggravated assault with a weapon π΄ Third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose π΄ Fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon
Officials said Minotti was subsequently taken to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth.

Authorities said the investigation indicates the stabbing was a random attack carried out by a single actor.
Officials emphasized that there is no continuing safety threat to Wheeler Park or the surrounding area.
