Quarterback Jaxson Dart set multiple records as the New York Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys 28-20 to open the 2026 season. Dart is now only the second player in National Football League history to reach several specific milestones during a Week 1 game.
š EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ ā The New York Giants opened the 2026 NFL season with a statement victory Sunday night, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 28-20 at MetLife Stadium, with quarterback Jaxson Dart delivering a historic performance.
Dart completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, finishing with a career-best 79.3% completion rate and a 134.2 passer rating. He also added 54 rushing yards on 11 carries.
š HISTORIC PERFORMANCE
Dart became only the second player in NFL history to record at least three passing touchdowns, no interceptions, 50 or more rushing yards and a completion percentage above 75% in a Week 1 game.
The only other quarterback to accomplish the feat was Jalen Hurts in 2021.
šāāļø Dart's 54 rushing yards also marked the most by a Giants quarterback in a Week 1 game since 1950.
The turnover-free performance helped New York maintain control throughout the game and gave John Harbaugh a victory in his first game as the Giants' head coach.
