šØ Gloucester City Man Charged After Allegedly Pouring Lighter Fluid on Home and Two People

Eugene Jackson of Gloucester City faces attempted murder and arson charges after allegedly pouring lighter fluid on two people and inside a home. Authorities arrested Jackson following a two-hour standoff Thursday morning, and he is being held in the Camden County jail.
GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ ā September 4, 2026 ā A Gloucester City man is facing attempted murder and attempted arson charges after authorities say he allegedly poured lighter fluid throughout a residence and onto two people.
Police responded to a home in the 600 block of Ridgeway Street at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday following reports of the incident.
According to authorities, the two victims were able to escape the residence before officers arrived. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Eugene Jackson, allegedly remained inside the home.
š Police established a perimeter around the residence, while some nearby residents were evacuated as officers worked to safely resolve the situation.
Approximately two hours later, Jackson exited the home and was taken into custody without further incident.

He is currently being held at the Camden County Department of Corrections pending a detention hearing.
The investigation remains ongoing.
