đ FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ â A 71-year-old Franklin Township man has been formally charged with murder in connection with the June death of his 40-year-old daughter.
According to the Gloucester County Prosecutorâs Office, Dennis J. Hall was indicted this week on a first-degree murder charge stemming from the fatal strangulation.
đ Authorities said Franklin Township Police responded to a home on East Avenue on June 11 after receiving a 911 call from Hall, who reportedly told emergency dispatchers that his daughter was not breathing.
Prosecutors say Hall admitted during the emergency call that he had strangled the victim.
When first responders arrived, they immediately attempted life-saving measures. The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she died on June 12 from injuries sustained in the incident.
âď¸ A medical examiner later determined that the womanâs cause of death was asphyxiation.
Hall was initially arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder. Following his daughterâs death, authorities amended the charge to murder.
âď¸ If convicted, Hall could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
â ď¸ The charge is an allegation, and Hall is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
