A Florham Park Police Department officer is facing multiple criminal charges following allegations that he assaulted and stalked a woman he knew, according to court records and a probable-cause affidavit obtained through a public records request.
š® Gregory M. Dietz, 34, is charged with second-degree aggravated assault, fourth-degree stalking, harassment and criminal trespass in connection with an alleged incident on July 5, 2026.
According to the affidavit, the woman told investigators that she met Dietz after beginning work as a Florham Park police dispatcher in June 2025. Investigators allege that Dietz sent her multiple inappropriate messages and repeatedly asked her to pursue a relationship, while she considered the two friends.
š± Authorities say the woman eventually told Dietz not to contact her again and blocked him through messaging services, Instagram and email.
The affidavit alleges that Dietz subsequently went to the woman's residential building without an access card and knocked on her apartment door. According to investigators, she allowed him inside because she wanted to end their friendship.
Once inside, Dietz allegedly attempted to kiss the woman. When she turned away, investigators say he slapped her, grabbed her with both hands and applied pressure to her neck, causing her to lose consciousness.
š Investigators reportedly observed marks and swelling on the woman's neck following the alleged incident.
The records state that the Florham Park Police Department was made aware of the allegations and contacted Roseland police, who conducted an investigation.
šØ According to an arrest report, Roseland police arrested Dietz on July 20 on an active warrant. Court records indicate he was released on July 24.
Dietz's current employment status with the Florham Park Police Department remains unclear. The department's website continued to list him as a patrol officer, while the police chief declined to comment on his duty status, citing an ongoing investigation.
The Morris County Prosecutor's Office also declined to confirm or deny the existence of an investigation.
