A Flood Watch is in effect until 11:00 PM for several North Jersey counties due to heavy rain and thunderstorms. Residents should prepare for potential localized flooding in low-lying areas and are advised never to drive through water on roadways.
⚠️ A Flood Watch has been issued for the following areas and remains in effect until 11:00 PM:
📍 Northern Fairfield 📍 Southern Fairfield 📍 Western Passaic 📍 Eastern Passaic 📍 Hudson 📍 Western Bergen 📍 Eastern Bergen 📍 Western Essex 📍 Eastern Essex 📍 Western Union 📍 Eastern Union
🌧️ WHAT THIS MEANS: Conditions are favorable for flooding due to periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Localized flooding may develop quickly, particularly in low-lying areas, roadways, underpasses and locations with poor drainage.
🚗 TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN! Never drive through flooded roadways. If you encounter water covering the road, find another route.
🏠 Residents in the watch area should remain weather-aware, monitor alerts and be prepared to move to higher ground if flooding develops.
