📍 NEWARK, NJ — A flight attendant is receiving widespread praise after stepping in to catch a baby who was moments away from falling from the lap of the child's exhausted mother during a flight from New Jersey to Michigan.
According to seasoned traveler John Frehse, he was aboard a flight traveling from Newark Airport to Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Michigan when he witnessed the heartwarming moment.
The baby's mother had reportedly fallen asleep while holding her child. As the infant began slipping from her lap, flight attendant Monique Harris quickly reacted and caught the baby.
Harris then went a step further, reportedly encouraging the tired mother to continue resting while she held and cared for the infant, giving the new mom a much-needed break. ❤️
📸 Frehse shared a photo of Harris holding the baby online, and the post quickly gained widespread attention, receiving nearly 200,000 reactions and thousands of shares.
Frehse praised Harris for her actions, writing that the moment was a reminder that kindness and compassion still exist during difficult times.
👏 Republic Airways, which operates regional flights for United Airlines, publicly praised Harris and said the company was proud to have her on its team. United Airlines also responded to the post.
Social media users have since shared their own stories of flight attendants helping parents with babies and children, with many calling for Harris to receive a bonus or raise for her actions.
Harris, however, has remained humble about the attention.
