🚨 FAIRFIELD POLICE ARREST 22-YEAR-OLD LITTLE FALLS MAN IN ALLEGED DUI CASE
Fairfield police arrested a 22-year-old Little Falls man for driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Passaic Avenue. Officers allege the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was over twice the legal limit and found open alcohol containers inside the vehicle.
FAIRFIELD, NJ — August 27, 2026 — The Fairfield Police Department announced the arrest of a 22-year-old Little Falls man following a late-night motor vehicle stop that investigators say led to an alleged driving-under-the-influence offense.
According to police, Officer Carmelo Caramanna was patrolling Passaic Avenue at approximately 1:27 a.m. on August 24 when he observed a light-colored sedan allegedly being operated in a careless manner. The officer also reportedly noticed that the vehicle’s rear brake lights were not functioning properly.
Police said a motor vehicle stop was conducted near Greenbrook Road. The driver was identified as Jayson Briones, 22, of Little Falls.
During the investigation, Officer Caramanna allegedly observed that Briones had bloodshot and watery eyes and detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. Police also reported that two cans of alcoholic beverages were allegedly observed inside the vehicle.
Standardized field sobriety testing was administered, and Briones was subsequently placed under arrest for alleged driving under the influence.
His vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law, and Briones was transported to the West Caldwell Police Department, where police said he provided breath samples as required by law. Authorities allege that his blood alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit.
Briones was later transported to Fairfield Police Headquarters for processing.
He faces charges including driving under the influence, possession of an open container of alcohol/cannabis in a motor vehicle, careless driving, reckless driving, improper maintenance of lamps, and additional motor vehicle violations.
Briones is scheduled to make a mandatory appearance in Fairfield Municipal Court on October 29, 2026.
