šØ EAST WINDSOR MAN FACING FATAL HIT-AND-RUN CHARGES DETAINED BY ICE š

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained an East Windsor man following a fatal hit-and-run crash on Route 33. Herman Johel Santos-Morales faces multiple charges after allegedly striking two pedestrians, killing one and critically injuring another, while driving with a suspended license.
š EAST WINDSOR, NJ ā A man facing criminal charges in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Route 33 has been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
ICE officials said its Newark field office arrested Herman Johel Santos-Morales on August 19. ICE identified Santos-Morales as a Honduran national who is unlawfully present in the United States and said he is now facing removal proceedings.
The arrest stems from a fatal August 9 crash at approximately 10:59 p.m. near the intersection of Route 33 West and Probasco Road.
According to East Windsor police, a 2013 Chrysler 300 traveling westbound struck two pedestrians who were crossing the roadway. Police said the driver fled the scene.
š A 37-year-old East Windsor man died from his injuries at Princeton Medical Center. A 21-year-old Spotswood man suffered significant injuries and was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was reported to be in critical condition.
Police identified Santos-Morales as the alleged driver and charged him with multiple offenses, including:
š“ Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death š“ Endangering an injured victim š“ Causing death while driving with a suspended or revoked license š“ Leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury š“ Causing serious bodily injury while driving with a suspended or revoked license
Santos-Morales was previously turned over to the Mercer County Correctional Facility following his arrest, according to police.
ICE said Santos-Morales is currently facing removal from the United States.
