🚨 DWI / CHILD ENDANGERMENT ARREST IN WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP 🚨

📍 WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, SALEM COUNTY, NJ — Police say an alert call from employees at a local McDonald’s led to the arrest of a 37-year-old Collings Lakes man who was allegedly intoxicated while accompanied by a young child.

According to police, officers were called to the McDonald’s located at 5851 Route 42 at approximately 11:01 p.m. Saturday after employees reported that a man inside the restaurant appeared highly intoxicated. Employees reportedly observed the man slurring his speech and having difficulty walking straight while with a young child.

🚔 Officer Bentsen arrived within approximately one minute and located the man and his daughter. Field sobriety testing was conducted as part of the investigation. Police said the man admitted to consuming alcohol.

👮 Officer Matos assisted during the investigation by staying with the child while officers handled the investigation and arrest.

The man was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a second-degree crime.

👧 The child was safely released to a family member. The man was later lodged in the Salem County Jail.

Police credited the McDonald’s employees for recognizing the situation and immediately contacting authorities, saying their actions may have prevented a potentially serious incident.
