🚒 Driver Rescued After Car Becomes Pinned Under FedEx Truck in Woodbridge
Firefighters rescued a driver from a car pinned under a FedEx truck Wednesday in Woodbridge. The crash caused a diesel fuel leak, and emergency crews took the driver to a nearby hospital for treatment following the lengthy rescue operation.
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — September 4, 2026 — Firefighters carried out a prolonged extrication Wednesday morning after a passenger vehicle became pinned underneath a FedEx box truck on Homestead Avenue in Woodbridge Township.
According to the Woodbridge Township Professional Firefighters Association, firefighters from Avenel, Port Reading and Woodbridge responded to the crash, which involved entrapment.
🚨 Crews arrived to find the passenger vehicle lodged beneath the box truck, requiring specialized equipment and an extended operation to safely free the driver.
The crash also resulted in damage to the truck’s saddle tank, causing an active diesel fuel leak. 🛢️ Because of the hazardous-material concern, Middlesex County Haz-Mat was called to the scene to help contain and mitigate the leak.
👨🚒 After the coordinated extrication effort, firefighters successfully removed the driver from the vehicle.
🚑 The driver was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver’s current condition was not immediately available.
Officials praised the firefighters from all three departments for working together efficiently during the challenging rescue.
