šØ CVS EMPLOYEE ASSAULTED AFTER TRESPASSED MAN RETURNS TO MONTCLAIR STORE šØ
Montclair police charged a Newark man with assault after he allegedly attacked a CVS employee and hit a customer with a shampoo bottle on August 13. The suspect, who was previously banned from the store, fled the scene after causing several injuries.
š MONTCLAIR, NJ ā Police are investigating an incident at a CVS pharmacy after a previously trespassed man allegedly became violent when confronted by an employee.
Officers responded around 3:38 p.m. on August 13 to the CVS at 565 Valley Road following a report of a physical dispute between a customer and an employee.
According to police, employees recognized a man who had previously been trespassed from the store and confronted him after he entered the pharmacy. The man allegedly became irate, attacked a 29-year-old employee, and threw merchandise throughout the store before fleeing.
The employee suffered facial injuries, including bruising, a small laceration near his left eye and nose, and a swollen lip. š He was treated by Montclair EMS and transported to Mountainside Hospital.
A CVS customer was also reportedly struck in the head by a shampoo bottle during the incident. She was treated by EMS but declined additional medical attention.
š No merchandise was reported stolen.
Police identified the suspect as a 25-year-old Newark man, who was charged with two counts of assault, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.
The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
