Police arrested a Collings Lakes man for driving while intoxicated and child endangerment after McDonaldâs employees reported he appeared drunk with his young daughter. Officers performed sobriety tests at the restaurant and later transported the suspect to the Salem County Jail.
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ â A 37-year-old Collings Lakes man was arrested Saturday night after employees at a Washington Township McDonaldâs contacted police about concerns that he appeared to be intoxicated while accompanied by his young daughter.
According to the Washington Township Police Department, officers were called to the Route 42 restaurant at approximately 11 p.m. after employees reported that the man was allegedly slurring his speech and having difficulty walking.
An officer responded and located the man and his daughter at the restaurant. Police said the man was administered field sobriety tests and acknowledged to officers that he had consumed alcohol.
The man was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
đ§ Police said the child was released into the care of a family member.
The man was transported to the Salem County Jail following his arrest.
Authorities did not release additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding the DWI allegation.
