❤️🩹🚔 BERGEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICERS PERFORM CPR, HELP SAVE UNRESPONSIVE DRIVER IN HACKENSACK
Bergen County Sheriff’s officers saved an 80-year-old man who was found unresponsive in his car at a Hackensack intersection on Tuesday. Officers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and used a defibrillator to restore the driver's heart rhythm before he was hospitalized.
📍 HACKENSACK, NJ — An 80-year-old driver is recovering after Bergen County Sheriff’s officers responded to a medical emergency Tuesday afternoon and performed life-saving measures at a Hackensack intersection.
Authorities were alerted to a vehicle that had stopped in the roadway near Essex Street and Polifly Road. When officers arrived, they found the driver unresponsive inside the vehicle.
🚨 Officers broke a passenger-side window to gain access to the driver. They worked together to remove him from the vehicle before beginning CPR and using a defibrillator to restore his heart rhythm.
❤️🩹 The driver was subsequently taken for medical care and remains in recovery.
Sheriff’s Officer Ryan Dingertopadre was among those involved in the response. According to authorities, Tuesday’s incident marked the third time during his career that Dingertopadre has participated in a similar life-saving emergency.
👮♂️ The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office said its officers receive CPR training and are expected to take that training seriously so they are prepared to respond when medical emergencies occur.
Officials credited the officers’ training, quick response and teamwork with helping improve the driver’s outcome.
