👮♂️🏆 BELLEVILLE OFFICER RECOGNIZED AS AUGUST 2026 ‘OFFICER OF THE MONTH’
The Belleville Police Department named Officer Gabriel Curiel its Officer of the Month for August 2026. Curiel was honored for his proactive work, including the arrest of a domestic violence suspect following a vehicle search and foot pursuit.
📍 BELLEVILLE, NJ — The Belleville Police Department is recognizing Officer Gabriel Curiel for his dedication, proactive police work and contributions to several arrests and investigations throughout August.
Curiel has been named the department’s “Officer of the Month” for August 2026, with the department highlighting his professionalism, determination and commitment to keeping the Belleville community safe.
🚔 One of the incidents specifically recognized involved a domestic violence-related burglary in which a suspect reportedly fled the scene. Through follow-up investigative work, Curiel located the suspect’s vehicle and ultimately apprehended the individual following a brief foot pursuit.
Police said Curiel’s efforts helped bring the situation to a safe conclusion while providing reassurance to the victim and her children following the traumatic incident.
🔎 Throughout August, Curiel also assisted with numerous other arrests and investigations, with the department praising his work ethic, courage and willingness to take initiative.
💪 Beyond his patrol responsibilities, the Belleville Police Department said Curiel continues to pursue additional training opportunities while maintaining a high level of physical fitness and readiness to respond when called upon.
