A Belleville resident fought off a masked gunman during an attempted robbery outside his home on Cedar Hill Avenue early Saturday morning. The victim was not injured, and the suspect fled empty-handed in a black sedan.
π BELLEVILLE, NJ β A Belleville resident fought back during an attempted armed robbery outside his home early Saturday morning, according to police.
The Belleville Police Department said officers responded around 3:27 a.m. to the 100 block of Cedar Hill Avenue following a report of an armed robbery.
Investigators say the victim was returning home when a masked man approached him while armed with a black handgun. The suspect allegedly pointed the weapon at the resident and demanded his jewelry.
The victim resisted, leading to a brief physical struggle with the suspect. Police said the suspect eventually broke away and fled the area in a black sedan.
πͺ NO INJURIES REPORTED
Despite the confrontation, the resident was not injured, and police said the suspect did not manage to take anything from him.
The suspect was described as a thin male wearing dark clothing and a face mask. Authorities said he allegedly spoke Spanish during the encounter.
