Two local geese named Taco and Churro have returned to Deal Lake after being taken on September 2. Authorities rescued the birds from a Warren County farm following a social media search, and the geese are now healthy and back home.

Two beloved geese that have called Deal Lake home for nearly 15 years are back where they belong after being taken from the lake earlier this month.
According to the Monmouth County SPCA, witnesses reported seeing three people take the geese, Taco and Churro, and place them inside a vehicle on September 2 before leaving the area.
Their caretakers were left concerned about their whereabouts and turned to social media and authorities for help. 📱🪿
After posts about the missing geese were widely shared, a farm in Warren County reportedly recognized Taco and Churro and contacted local police.
An Asbury Park Police detective and a Monmouth County SPCA animal control officer traveled north to retrieve the geese and bring them home. 🚔🪿
The two geese were examined by a veterinarian and were found to be in good health. They have since returned to Deal Lake, where they are once again swimming, eating and relaxing in their familiar surroundings. 🌊❤️
Taco and Churro have become beloved fixtures around the lake, particularly among local residents and their caretakers, including those connected to the lakeside Catbird restaurant.
⚠️ The Monmouth County SPCA is reminding the public that removing wildlife can carry serious legal consequences, including potential jail time and significant fines.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no charges have been announced against the individuals accused of taking the geese or the farm owners.
