At 10:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew members attempted to regain control of the aircraft from the hijackers.
Flight 93 had been hijacked as part of the coordinated September 11 attacks. After learning through phone calls that other hijacked planes had struck targets, passengers reportedly organized an effort to storm the cockpit.
The aircraft ultimately crashed into a field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, preventing it from reaching its intended target. All 40 passengers and crew members aboard Flight 93 were killed.
